Our UL 1007 PVC Hook Up Wire video is part of Allied Wire and Cable’s new “Spotlight” series, which gives quick, fact-filled explanations of some popular electrical wiring and cable products.
PVC Wire UL 1007 is used in a wide range of applications and industries. It is UL listed as AWM wire, which means it is appropriate for use as “appliance wiring material” inside appliances and electronics. PVC hook up wire is moisture, abrasion, ozone, acid, and solvent resistant. It also passes the UL Horizontal Flame Test, making it a great choice for many diverse applications. However, it should not be used if flexibility and extended flex life are necessary at low temperatures.
UL 1007 wiring may be constructed with a solid or stranded conductor and PVC insulation which must be 15 mils minimum average, and 13 mils minimum at any point. The wire is available in sizes ranging from 32 AWG to 16 AWG.
As a value-added manufacturer, Allied Wire & Cable can customize UL 1007 with services such as dyeing the wire to custom colors, and striping, or printing the cable to meet branding and identification needs. To simplify and speed installation, Allied also offers cut and strip and twisting solutions.
